Zelensky in the US With a Side of Russian Nuclear Missiles
First, President Volodymyr Zelensky is in the US and will see President Joe Biden in the White House later. And yes, I am leaning a lot on Yigal Levin for this. The first is that he was awarded this week during his trip to the United States, and his speech, even if partial, points to the thinking in Kyiv:
An excerpt from the speech of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during his speech on the occasion of receiving The Golden Plate Award, which was presented to him by the American Academy of Achievement.
“That’s why they must lose, and we don’t have much time. The next few months will be decisive in this war, Russia’s war against Ukraine and all of you, because this is Russia’s war against freedom itself. We have little time to determine what the outcome will be, and we must determine it. Not Russia, not their bloody allies. We must be faster. We must not lose a few months of war, so as not to lose the next decades. Ukraine has a plan to win, and I will present this plan to America, first of all to President Biden, to Congress, to both presidential candidates, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, and to all of our global allies. And I believe that this must be our common achievement — victory in the name of freedom, without compromise at the expense of freedom.”
Ok, American Academy of Achievement? I think many of us are hearing of these guys for the first time. We knew Zelensky had a plan. We also know the Russians are reluctant to even talk at this point. It’s a good diplomatic trap if you are in Ukraine. Why? Ukraine is hitting ammo depots, which will play havoc with Russian logistics.
Her plan is simple: Russia, get out of Ukraine, and never again do this. In a country where the cultural imperative is the gathering of lands and imperial expansion, this is a hard pill to swallow, which brings me to the ammo hits.
This would affect the defense of Kursk. Well, intel agrees:
British intelligence believes that the 107th GRAU arsenal contained artillery ammunition of various calibers, missiles, and aerial bombs, which were then delivered to airfields. In addition to Russian ammunition, there were also North Korean ones. Intelligence believes that the destruction of the warehouse will greatly affect the capabilities of the Russian Armed Forces in the Kursk direction.
I would love to see the classified satellite images on this one. But the fact that now two different Intel outfits are saying this was bad if you are the Federation… does matter. Estonia did the other day. This means these hits on centralized storage facilities will have a natural effect.
Let me turn to something our media has ignored chiefly while not in Eastern Europe. This is the production of artillery shells:
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited an American ammunition plant in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
This plant operates entirely for the needs of the Ukrainian army, producing 155 mm caliber shells for Western-style artillery.
“There are 400 people working here. I really wanted to come here and thank you. 400 people saved millions of Ukrainians. On behalf of myself and all our people, I thank you very much. You helped us stand up to Putin’s invasion,” President Zelensky said, addressing the plant workers.
It is also worth recalling that by the summer of 2025, the United States will reach production capacity of approximately 1,200,000 shells per year. The growth in production capacity is provided by the expansion of existing factories, such as Scranton, as well as the construction of new ones. A high level of automation, as well as modern equipment, make it possible to expand the capabilities for the production of shells to such figures.
This is good news for us, too. In silence, the arsenal of democracy is growing. We do not need to highlight this, except with people who matter. It’s part of the Lend-Lease for Ukraine, and in effect, it’s working the same way it did in World War Two. We used the time before Pearl Harbor to grow our capacity.
