Remembering how incredibly well stored was the Baghram base in Afghanistan ( felt like the biggest mall in San Diego) I am very surprised by the failings logistics of today. Is it the effect of corruption or unpreparedness- after all the war was supposed to last a couple of weekends?

The effect of incompetence?

The effect of profound decline?

All of the above. They were also able to make money at Bagram. Not so much in the middle of the ocean. Indian Ocean to be specific here.

„using a 1.2 million system to bring down a 50 thousand drone makes no economic sense“: to a large extent it will depend on what this drone is targeting. If it is, e.g. a nuclear power plant or the bridge of an aircraft carrier then the expense may not appear that disproportionate.

Except it really does not. And Ukraine is showing you can shoot these down for pennies,as in 50 cal ammunition. It’s a choice we have made not to adapt to this new form of war over the last four years. I guess it’s who greases the palm.

Of course it doesn’t - unless it’s YOUR nuclear power plant or YOUR aircraft carrier.

But I do agree with you that modern „weapons“ are mostly meant to line their manufacturers‘ pockets and that far cheaper weapons are possible and are being developed and deployed in Ukraine.

Alas, most targets are not nuclear plants or carriers. But silly things like radar stations, military goods factories, etcetera. Been watching the Ukraine war for years. And the US has learned zero lessons. An exercise recently showed just how badly prepared we are. A Ukrainian battalion took out a brigade in an exercise. We still refuse to learn.

Agreed. Iran shows it clearly - to those who want to see. As the saying goes, the military always prepares for the previous war.

What’s your bet

1. the WH goes on an all out ‘fake news’ reprisal and firing campaign against those who speak out about these conditions.

2. Pete Hegseth gets fired.

I know what I am betting on…

They started on number 1, but I think he will be fired in the end.

I just saw a clip from trumps stomp on Long Island last night 8/14 a lot of screaming about the harm the radical left is doing to our country....... You're on target naming 1 let's hope for number 2 as well. with an overwhelming blue wave this November.

Yes, I think the wave is coming. Oh the crisis will be grand.

That’s a wonderful way of putting it, Love it!, “Oh the crisis will be grand!”
